The People's Democratic Party
Leader: National Chairman Ahmadu Adumu Mu'azu (current), Olusegun Obasanjo (former), Alex Ekwueme (former; founder)
Beliefs: Conservative, center-right. Free market economy, limited government regulation, national healthcare, state autonomy, religious freedom.
Changes over time: Has remained the country's dominant political party since its founding in 1998. All presidents have been members of this party.

Leader: Chairman Tony Momoh (current), Muhammadu Buhari (former)
Beliefs: Liberal, center-left. Individual liberty, inividual rights, social welfare, devolution of powers.
Changes over time: Formed from dissatisfied members of the ANPP. Buhari was one of the leaders of the split and helped bring in a lot of members for the CPC.

The Action Congress of Nigeria
Leader: Chairman Chief Bisi Akande (current), Hassan M. Zurmi (former)
Beliefs: Unclear and self serving. Anti-corruption. Have since adopted the beliefs of the APC.
Changes over time: Formed in 2006 in order to oppose the PDP. Was successful in judicially challenging the 2003 elections. Has since allied with other parties to form the All Progressives Congress.
