The Nigerian FederationA Federal Government
Nigeria is a federal government, not a unitary government. Nigeria follows the United States federal structure, where there is an executive branch at the head of the government, a House of the Senate and House of Representatives, or the Legislative Branch, and a Judiciary with a Supreme Court. The branches are elected through representations and districts. There is a trend, however, where the government claims to become more federal and "for the people," where'd the fix the corruption and extremely unfair elections, yet the only thing changed, so they think, is with the election. Goodluck Jonathan, after taking office, is noted for his attempt to centralize the government and have a fair separation of powers, with a checks and balances system through a free and fair election. |
